Since the Member States' decision in 1997 to make Brussels the seat of the European institutions, Brussels has become the Capital of Europe. The Atomium
The Atomium is a monument in Brussels, Belgium, built for the 1958 World's Fair and representing the conventional iron crystal mesh (centered cubic structure) magnified 165 billion times. It is located in Laeken on the Heysel plateau where this exhibition took place.
