The Sanssouci or Sans-Souci Palace is the former summer palace of the Prussian King Frederick II (known as Frederick the Great). It is located in Potsdam, in the Land of Brandenburg, twenty-six kilometers southwest of Berlin. It was built between 1745 and 1747 by the architect Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff in a style resulting from the Rococo, which is called the Fredérician Rococo. It is also renowned for its factories, gardens and the other extravagances of Sanssouci Park, adjoining the building.
